Do I have to special order or are they a standard size I can pickup at a electronic store?

IF you check out Radioshack.com you can pick up 6V 1800mAh adapters for >$5 each. You'll just need to buy the plugs (Radioshack, or ebay). You need 6V adapter with at least 600mAh. 1800 is overkill, but won't harm the system.
I believe I got 2 complete units from Radioshack and ebay for $18ish. If you need to know which Adaptaplug adapter, it's a model 'M' |
