nac9

Nice looking skimmate, I just ordered one and I'm expecting it this weekend. My tank is 90 gallon display and 100 gallon system. Do you think its overkill? I ordered the NAC9 because I plan to upgrade in the future, and I know bigger is better with skimmers. How high is ur water level in ur sump?

I don't think its overkill, but then again I probably overstock and I feed a lot.
My water level is 11.5 inches.

Ok... I read a lot of people saying the Skimmer is real noisy. What's your experience with noise from the Skimmer? Or is urs in wall or in a fish room where noise isn't an issue?

I have had an NAC6 and now an NAC8. Also installed a couple NAC3.5 for people. All silent. The nac8 does need a air silencer but the pump is silent.

I have heard people say its noisy, but mine is pretty much silent.
I have to open the cabinet/stand doors to even tell it is on, and then its mostly the bubbles I hear.

A lot of the older models that used the mesh hybrid impeller had balance issues with the impellers making them noisy. Once these people switched to the needlwheel impellers the pumps were silent again.

Hmm...trying to decide between the NAC9, CS-2, or the RO 8. Quiet is definitely a factor for me. The Marineland I have on my 29 is LOUD!

The NAC9 and CS-2 are pretty much the same skimmer with a different pump. Mojo likes the CS-2.

I have a nac 9 and a nac 7.

The nac 9 is an awesome skimmer. You can spend a lot more and get less performance. You will love this skimmer!

Nac 7 is decent stock.... give it a modified impeller and its also amazing.

I agree, don't think you can beat the NAC 9 for performance/price ratio.

Indeed, it is magus. Not the Latin word magnus.

This skimmer is a boss! I have it installed in my 100 gallon system now. I will post pictures when it starts producing. I have it at level 3 now to break it in, should I turn it down more? My tank has only been running for a wk with 10 lbs live rock and 50 lbs dry rock from bulk reef supply. I will add 15 more pounds of live rock in two weeks from my established reef. Am I skimming too early?

What water level do you have it sitting in? Mine is fully broken in and I have it around 4

Nac9

My water level is 10 inches.

Another question, does everyones pump for their NAC9 say 125 watts? I thought it was supposed to be less then that.

My water level in the sump is 11.5", and I have the adjustment on the outflow pipe set to one.

Hi there. How do you like the skimmer so far? Any re-start problems? ATMan or aquabee pump?

I really like mine, it has the Atman 4000. No restart problems.

There are no restart problems with the Atmann pumps as long as you are using a needlewheel and not a Mesh Hybrid impeller.
