Please Help! Sick Burrfish

The following is a repost from last week. I would really appreciate some help with this. I don't want to lose the little guy. To update, the little burrfish is surviving. Eyes are still cloudy & speckled. Skin looks the same and is "pilling" like a sweater. I have been adding every other day or so t to help his slime coat.

I have a striped burrfish whose bright blue eyes have become cloudy and punctuated with little white spots. Also, its skin appears paler & cloudier than usual. I think this could be slime coat breakdown, but I am not sure. The burrfish is still eating well and the other fish in the tank aren't showing any of these symptoms. Any ideas?

Also, as far as treating goes, I am really hesitant to put him in QT because he didn't eat when he was in there originally. Only since moving him into DT has he demonstated a hearty appetite. Can anyone suggest a gentle but successful treatment?

Thanks for any and all help!

Reply to saracay811 re: sick burr fish

I just had my aquarist come for the same reason you posted. He did a water change and lowered the salinity to 18%. He said that it would not affect the fish I had in the aquarium but to be sure let your supplier know what kind of fish you have with your burr fish to ensure no harm comes to them. Don't know if size of fish matters but mine is about 8". He said also to feed it well even if it seems like too much as long as it eats it all. Good luck!!
