need help hooking RO/DI up to fish tank
I have a baby joining the family any day now and I wanted to get rid of the RO bucket so she cannot get into it. I was thinking of using the level lock with the electric solenoid in my sump but how would I control the ro unit? What would be the best way to turn it on and off? I was thinking about using a timer and a solenoid to turn the ro/di on and off. Or would it be better to get an X-10 module and have my ACjr handle this task. If there is an easier way please let me know. Thanks

You can buy an auto top off kit from autotopoff.com or like jbj or any other company and get a solenoid that opens when there's electricty then get a 12v transformer and plug it into the solenoid and ATO. the float valves will open the solenoid then close it when it's full. You could also wire up 2 solenoids for redundacy and have 2 float valves also.
Also, You can put a lid on your bucket so she can't get into it. I use an ATO with a solenoid to fill up a 5gal bucket thats covered so my daughter can't get in it and have another ATO that pumps it into my tank. This way if the solenoid breaks or something it'll overflow the room and not the room and tank. Plus my jbj ATO has like a 10min limit which isn't long enough for the solenoid to open for rodi |
