Its got to be feed by either an external pump, or from your over flow. Mine is running externaly since i dont have room under my tank. I feed it with a rio 3100 or some size close to that. It is sitting at a hight, high enough so the return spills back into my sump. My skimmer is not effected at all by the hight of the water in my sump since the pump is always below water level. I think what really makes it non-dependant on water level is the fact that it is either in sump or external.

I have had a red sea c-skim for a little over year now, and have come to the conclusion the idea is good, but the design is a little weak. I am currently looking to replace the one I have as I don't feel it is running as efficient as more skimmers of it's size. And with several problems with the pump not wanting to start once the unit is power cycled, and water leaking out of the air inlet valve, this wouldn't be a skimmer I would recommend to another reef friend.

Do you have the 1800 or the 1200? I herd the 1200 wast so good but this is one of very few bad review on it that I've heard

Hi..
I had a question about the red sea c skim 1800
Is it noisy or is it really as good as what the red sea guys are making it look out to be?

Thanks.
