Beckett users....

What would cause my beckett skimmer to "jam up" of sorts causing the pump to completely stop and eventually burn up?

Skimmer has been running for about a month now, (very clean system still) with a PCX-55HP of the same age. I noticed two weeks ago while tweaking it and also shutting it down, twice I turned the pump back on and the water would shoot to the beckett injector and STOP. Pump would stop pushing after about 10 seconds. After the second attempt I pulled the injector housing to look for obvious obstructions, to no avail. Put it back together it started up like nothing happened. Well today it must have stopped after it had been running for atleast a week or two. Pump is totally wasted now but I'm still glad cause it could have been a lot worse.

Anyone have the issue? This is my second beckett, (first was a DIY) that worked flawlessly till I sold it. Ironically, the DIY was a CLOSE replica of the one I have now, only mine worked better so far

Check inside the injector with a flash light. Mine looked clean then shined a light inside almost plugged solid. Cleaned out snail shells and sand. working like new again
Hope this helps

If it's not pumping any water...it is NOT the skimmer itself...it's the PUMP! The soul and heart of this unit is the pump and it's the only cause of no water entering the skimmer body.

If the injector is clogged, it has nothing to do with preventing water entering the skimmer body. The only thing that will happen is that water will be entering the skimmer body without any air. I would look into getting a better quality pump...or maybe you just got a defective one.

edd I'm thinking the same. I have the injector completely apart, and there is nothing inside that would stop water from going through. What a bummer, I doubt they would warranty this, too easy to say I ran it dry. Well I guess I'm not a fan of Gen-X anymore....
