Using old base rock in sump

I am setting up a new system. I have some live rock that I have kept in a little 20 gallon tank I used as a quaranteen tank. I have never really had to use it and Ive never put chemicals in it. I put alot of extra rock in it just to keep it ....wet, I guess. Anyway, I am taking this tank down and setting it up as a tank to hold live fish (food) for my predator tank. I would like to use this rock in my sump of the new system. The rock has a fair amount of green hair algae and small plates of what looks like coraline algae?? It actually looks like Montipora (yea, I know its not) and its very brittle. Could it be coraline? My question, Im not really worried about the algae as I will starve that out, but would you recommend sitting the rock outside for a few days and kill everything on it before putting it in the sump?
