T5's

Can any one give me basic (layman's terms) information on pro's and con's of T5's? I've seen a few existing posts on this but the info is more than I care to understand. I am looking to upgrade my lighting for my 110g 6'long tank, I think it is only like 18'' deep. I currently have 4x 160w VHO's. Coral has been ok with this lighting, however, I don't really like the pink hue it displays. I have tried various bulb combos and it is still pink. Mixed reef.

Icecap=overdriven bulbs, some people like, some use other ballasts that do not overdrive. T-5= More choice in colors, smaller bulb, fit more in. They run cool from what I have heard. I want them, but the cost is killing me.

Could I use the ballast I have for my vho's to drive the T5's?

most likely, but may or may not be overdriven. What type of ballast do you have?

if you have a pink hue you probably have pink bulbs =P take a look in the T5question and answer thread. tell the grim reefer what look you want, what fixture you have what reflectors and ballasts, and he will be able to recommend a selection of bulbs that will suit your needs and your livestocks needs as well.

I use 2 vho super actinic (blue) and actinic whites. No pinks. I read a lot of the T5 Q&A and got lost.

the ballasts are Hamilton x 2. I use these with Ice Cap retro fit.
