New mj1200 Pump Noise

Just bought a new mj1200 pump to run my two TLF reactors. Man is this thing noisy! I had read that the Cobalt version of the 1200 was a much better product. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, is there another pump that might be a better option for me?

I have a few of the new maxijet 1200s and they are silent. No problems at all.

I bought one of the marineland mj1200 to use as a back up on a reactor. It was backing up a older mj1200. the new one made a terrible racket! When I called marineland to complain, they told me that the new 1200's are no longer usable for reactors.

The parts between old and new are not interchangeable.

I had used these on my reactor and in two cases they lost a blade off the impeller causing a lot of noise. I bought a rio and no longer have an issue

I have been told by a Cobalt rep that their version of the MJ is actually the old/original model. Everything is supposedly identical.

Whether what he told me is true is a whole other story...

Cobalt is the old MJ which are the good ones. Another way to identify which the good ones are is by where they are made. The good ones are made in Italy the noisy ones are made in China. HTH

Yeah, I broke down and ordered a Cobalt mj1200. The tank is in the living room and I can't stand the noise. Just should have ordered the Cobalt from the beginning. Live and learn I guess.

I own both versions and the difference is night and day. I will never buy the marineland version again.

Haha I made the same mistake I ordered the maxi Jet 1200 and this is **** loud. I can hear it across my house even after adjusting it 1000 times. I just ordered the Colbalt version for only 10 more bucks.
