need help feeding rock critters
Hi all, I am not fond of people who go to forums online to get answers to every little question they have without doing any research on their own....it bugs me...lol
I have tried to find some answers on my question and I think the question is just to broad for any one source to answer. I just recieved 30lbs of live rock and 5 lbs of live sand from Richard at Tampa Bay Saltwater on this stuff have more criiters on it that you could ever imagine. Literally everyday I find new species. They question I have is what can I do to help insure the survival of such a diverse eco system. They are thousnads of nearly microcopic worms and other oddities, there are tiny barnacles, they are 10 or so different sponges and soft corals, there are hard coral, there are plants, there are at least 2 tiny serpent stars, many holes in the rock with something living in them...and so on and so on. I feel like by buying this rock I have exceeded my experience level because there are so many species to care for now it's daunting. How can I help the survival of such a diverse group. I would welcome any and all opinions...keep in mind though I am rather new to this so if your answer is complex..please take a little time to explain...thank you Last edited by Mirage2521; 05/28/2007 at 06:27 AM. |

I also got my rock from Tampa Bay saltwater. It had a large array of creatures in it, not all good. Many of the creatures disappeared in time, I'm assuming they didn't reproduce in my tank. Without knowing what type of creatures they are it's hard to answer this. I'd feed live phyto if you can get it and maybe cyclopeze. Best of luck.

Hopefully they'll all be good critters. I know I dropped a couple algae wafers in every other day until I got fish and then just relied on feeding.
