Marine depot is, in my experience, an excellent place to buy from. However, they are a bit pricey, and after shopping around at some other online vendors I did find better prices on some products.

Same as above execellent service and fast shipping but prices could be a little cheaper. I do use them anyway most of the time.

I like the mag pumps, what is your overflow rated for on your 29Gallon? That will deterimine the best pump, also factor in head loss. As far as the skimmer, I have heard not so good of stories about them. Personally, I think a smaller Euro-Reef would be a bit more $, but a much more reliable product... BTW, I have bought a lot of stuff from MD, never any issues, whatsoever....

I have had good experiences with marine depot. I did receive a broken pump from them once but they replaced it immediately without any hassles. I use a mag pump for my skimmer and an ehiem pump for my return.

I experienced the same thing as BWine. I contacted marine depot support because my pump had a chipped impeller and then sent me a shipping label and RMA # to send it back and sent me a new one right away.
I would definitely recommend them.

I've ordered a lot of stuff from Marine Depot and I've never had anything but good customer service (and fast delivery).

I've heard good things about Octopus NW skimmers--close to same price as Coraife but runs like Euroreef.(Octopus has it's own website, BTW).
Premiun Aquatics is a much faster shipper than MD--may depend where you live. Mag5 should work well.

I have ordered a UPS truck load of things from them and when I went back the next week, more than half the stuff was on sale, and when looking around I could have easily gotten it for a cheaper price.
I have almost always had a good experience with their customer service reps. but two or three of them have been terrible... I am going to be doing the rest of my ordering from DFS and premium aquatics. On a good note they shipped me a coralife single bulb 96 watt fixture and while shipping the bulb broke and I called and they sent new a new bulb free of charge. So that was nice. Some good and bad experiences, but then again, can't be perfect

Back out of reef discussion and scroll down to the vendors forums towards the bottom. Marine Depot has their own forum here.
The majority of the posts are highly positive including one posted by me. If you have any questions, just ask their rep. I've ordered from them a few times. I've done the bulk of my ordering with thatfishplace over the years. DFS is the place to order salt. Marine Depot has the largest selection of the three IMO. Some of the higher end stuff that you don't see in the other catalogs. Marine Depot was offering free shipping for orders over 175 not too long ago. I took advantage of it just a couple weeks ago. |
