skimmer causing low calcium?
Ok--I thought this was totally boguss--but I heard an LFS telling a guy that over-skimming could cause his low calcium problems.
Is this for real? I figured I'd check with you guys on here just in case I missed something. Funny thing is is that the guy has a Seaclone on an 80gal tank--so I know that there is no flippin' way that he is "overskimming" the tank. I could see if someone really skims wet that the salinity could drop some just because there is more water coming out of the system--but calcium???? I would love some input on this. Thanks guys.

I don't really think so, but I've been surprised by chemistry before. I'd say just do as you're doing and keep checking. I would say at your size, if you're keeping some corals, a kalk reactor might keep you handsomely in calcium: I'm a 54, added one, and am now dosing about once a month.
