Salifert Magnesium test

Has anyone had this experience? I purchased a Salifert Magnesium test from a big online store (btw a big sponsor of this site). I just received it and the box is actually a Copper Test box with a white sticker on it that says "Magnesium" and "This is an original Salifert kit but due to stock situation we had to use a different box".

Has anyone else seen this on their box? I would think that for the price of a Salifert test, you wouldn't see this substandard packaging! I'm thinking I should send it back as I'm not really comfortable that it's fresh and will get accurate readings.

I got mine a month or so ago and was packaged in a Calcium test kit box. It had that same sticker.

I received the same packaging on the one I ordered a couple of months ago. Don't worry about using it, it's fine. You'll se the containers inside are marked Mg. I tested my water with it at the same time I tested with the last of my previous kit and the readings were the same.

My guess is that there was a manufacturing screw up that led to Mg. kits being packed in the incorrect box. I also notice that Marine Depot, and Premium Aquatics are both out of Salifert Mg. test kits, and don't know when they'll be receiving more.

You could go to the vendor forum and ask what has happened on the Salifert forum, but I'm sure it's just a packaging problem rather than anything being wrong with the contents.

I got one from a LFS, I figured it was a problem specific to them. Should be fine though.

Mine actually came with a note from Salifert explaining they had a shortage of Mg boxes. . .or something like that. In other words, it's no mistake, and as everyone else says, the kit should be just fine. Mine was in a copper test kit box as well, by the way. It still throws me every time I look for my Mg test.

Same thing happened to me last week. I wouldn't worry about it. I've used it already and it is the exact same test it's always been.
