You can use RO/DI as it's the purest water available. Some people say not to use water to calibrate but the instructions specify it and it works fine. Do yourself a favor though. Test your water then take a sample to your LFS and ask them to test it too. If it reads the same as yours, chances are you're calibrated.

You can also buy 35 ppt calibration solutions at most online dealers. That's the best way to calibrate it, but if it calibrates at 0 with distilled or RO/DI, it should be pretty close.
