Mogul And Hqi?

ive got a 4' canopy with 2- 250 watt mogul base. im gathering stuff for my future 180 tank and was wondering if i could add an HQI into the the 6' canopy ill be building, in other words can mogul and hqi be mixed amongst themselves as long as they have the proper ballast?
