Anyone w/ problems with Vortech on acrylic?
Has anyone actually had problems with a vortech on an acrylic tank? I know everyone's all scared about it after that one person posted it boring out the tank, but was that just a fluke or has anyone else have first hand problems?

I have never tried it. But would say it is very risky. Maybe try it on an old junker acrylic tank and see what happens just an idea

I'm pretty sure that there are dozens if not hundreds of people who are using them on acrylic tanks, and we really have never heard of a problem except for the one guy's tank, in which there were some extenuating circumstances as well in that situation (pump wasn't functioning correctly, and he said he kept his house warm (80 or so degress, something very uncomfortable).
Either way, I would have used it had I had an acrylic tank, but I don't, and I've used it on my glass tank with no problem, didn't even feel that warm. |

It can't generate enough heat to melt plastic, unless its malfunction. No worries.

They provide a plastic/vinyl protector for the tank (on the outside at least). It's certainly not an issue on my tank (3/8 acrylic).
