Will this help??
Hey there,
Its been a while since i was around LOL.(this forum of course) I have a question, i currently own a 10gal tall reef and is powered by a 150w 20000k Halide. I find this to be -overkill- cause i cannot keep mushrooms or buttons.. and i tend to bleach out some corals.. the spses are doing fine. (clams too) My question is- I am thinking to downgrade the light to 75w.. still metal halide. Will this be bad? Advice please. If I proceed with the downgrading, will the SPSes /Clams get effected? I assume that 75w for 10gal is just nice to keep just about anything. (with proper water params of course. the brightness of my tank now is plainly ridiculous. the 150w mh fixture could be moved to my 20gal planted if this downgrading is recomended. Thanks in advance.. Please do advice. Regards, Drew

You Can always raise the light. The higher the light is from your aquarium, the lumens will begain to fade. Or you can go ahead and expeirment with the 75wt, you might like the look better. Good luck

lol FOSLONE.
Don't think i never thought of doing that LOL. It's just that space and cash is the matter. I ran outta space and since I'm an Asian, my family fully believes in feng shui. Therefore i have limited 'aquaspace' LOL. DGAF, Hmm i tried that once.. My fixture is a clamp -on F.Y.I so there really isnt much i can do. The major prob here that the intensity is killing off my easy corals(mushrooms and buttons are the verdict.) And bleaching some of my corals(Open brain.. Blastos.) The things I can see really healthy in this tank is well, Frgospawn coral, Torch coral, Purple Acropora, Orange Montipora. and especially my clams! (yes it's a 10g , when the time comes i usually sell em off. I doubt clams can grow large THAT fast lol ) More advice is appreciated. Drew

Go to any Ace Hardware store or Lowe's, Or Home Depot , buy a chain attach said light to,Attach chain to ceiling in house, Adjust length till you get it where it doesn't bleach your corals!

Hmm Great idea..
And as always, there's a catch. I ain't allowed to drill any holes onto the ceiling in my folks' home.(that's the idea anyways) That's why I'm using a Clamp-On metal halide. Or plainly- I suck at Light acclimation. LOL. Cos i see loads of nano reefers here used 150w MH without problems. Drew
