RO unit questions
Im looking into buying an ro unit. I would like to know how often everything should be replaced. I have noticed the membranes in perticular are very expenisive almost the price of a brand new unit.
Thanks all |

Hi
I change the pre filters (sediment/carbon) every 6 months, change the DI resin when tds reading goes above 0. The membranes are good for about 5 years depending on usage. Get a unit that has a 'flush' valve so the membrane can be flushed (once a week for 10min). Barry |

ahh your from england like me! What did you spend for your unit? I have seen prices ranging from anwhere between £60 and £300. Also does it matter about brands?
I was just looking at this one as its cheap will it do the job? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3-STAGE-50-GPD...QQcmdZViewItem |

Hi
This is the place to get them from http://www.ro-man.com/shop/index.php I bought the 50gpd 4 stage unit (RO/DI) for £74. They do a filter 'kit' when changing filters for less than £20, it includes sediment/carbon filters and 1litre of DI resin. I have had mine for a year now and can't fault it. It also has a 'flush system' for flushing the membrane which is recommended 10min once a week (saves the membrane so you should get 5 years out of it). Hope this helps. Barry |
