LED reef lighting?!?
i have been doing some research online about alternative lighting, to try and save on energy costs. i stumbled on this item on e-bay
http://cgi.ebay.com/225-White-LED-Li...QQcmdZViewItem Now i know that you can not go by watts, because led's put out more light pet watt than regular lights. just like the lights that you put in your house, a 60w regular bulb Vs. a 13w energy saver compact fluorescent (CFL) bulbs that put out the same amount of light with a fraction of energy use. I also understand that you can not go by watts in this case, you would have to measure the lux or lumens that the bulbs put out. so i guess if you had a Lux meter, you could determine the actual output of the led's. (which i do not have) one other LED http://cgi.ebay.com/AQUARIUM-LED-LIG...QQcmdZViewItem says that it is equal to 100w of light, using just 11w of power. Does this sound right. i was a little confused about it. What do you guys think???? |

hot topic these days..
lots of discusion on and and most theads get closed.. yes it works for "lighting a aquarium" but remember your kelvin temps as with them 2 you will not have a good spectrum to suports a REEF. over time this will prob be the light source we use mainly. |
