It's not ideal, but on a 55 gallon tank, you'd be able to keep pretty much any softies and some lps (middle to upper part of the tank). I say it's not ideal because those are PC lights and generate quite a bit of heat, and the bulbs need to be replaced every 6-9 months or so (pretty frequently compared to T5s, for example). You also don't have very many color options as far as bulb replacements are concerned.

But you should be able to get by for quite a long time with those lights on that tank.
