He said he turned them off and still has bubbles.Kicking upi the SB surface is a good thing and a little extra flow goes a long way.

Hydor has never said you can't---IMO the clunking sound has mad guys believe you can't BTW hydor is coming out with a controller and a brand new line of pumps The controller for two pumps is retailed at 425 bucks and the new pumps are way more in price to. It is a little rediculous when the old ones work fine on interval timers I have a one, two and four on that interval timer IMO Hydor has discovered that the popularity of the Koralias has made their product under priced and are looking for subtle ways to increase the price on them

What are the dimensions on the tank...?
Here's my old 55 once it was pretty much raided, but you can still see the placement of the K3's in the tank. I didn't have any issues with bubbles or sand.

thanks for the tip on getting Koralias to work on a timer, capn! Good idea. Do you have any suggestions for installing those plastic tubes on the shafts or will anything work?

The sand build-up on the right is compliments of my trigger, who got mad everytime I leveled out the sand bed and would move it all into a pile in the corner shortly after.

Strait from manufacter, Note: Hydor Koralias are not intended for use with wavemakers.

Ok I'll see where I am at tomorrow with the K2's and go from there with the K3's.

The reason why they aren't intended to be used on a wavetimer is for the reason Capn stated-- the propeller sits loose on the shaft so it rattles when they start up until the prop gets seated. Doing this over and over might damage the prop. If you can eliminate the rattling there's no reason why they wouldn't work.

hmmm...so a small piece of airline tubing might work, eh?
Sounds like I have a weekend project. Thanks! p.s. Apologies to Mr. Roo-- didn't mean to hijack your thread.

I guess are experiance is differant as i see many threads on the misuse of wavemakers and that koralias arent made for them. If you use only this in your tank for water movement then it may take time to show adverese results so just keep this thread in mind.

well, you can buy quite a few replacements before you spend the $400 on the ones Hydor is making that probably have nothing more than the added piece of plastic Capn mentioned.

I'm just curious and definately not trying to "fuel the fire" here... but what potential problems do you think may arise from running them on a wavemaker?
