Could i use a hermit crab i found in the ocean in destin florida?
hes kinda big and looks different..

Then no, it wouldn't be a wise idea to add him.
Most crabs are opportunistic feeders, and if he doesn't look like your normal hermit crab, then who knows what it'll eat in your tank.

I've seen those. Big, mean, and nasty. Probably eat everything in your tank. I'll be going to Ft. Walton Beach soon to visit my Mom, and I'll be looking around when I'm there.

I'm just going to make a WAG and say you probably have Clibanarius vittatus which is the common large crab on the Gulf Coast. They're super destructive. About all they're good for is fishing bait.
