lighting question - affixing to canopy
Based on my last thread about taking off the glass tops, since I have a canopy, I can take of the tops and simply affix my lights to the canopy.
What would be the best lights out there for a reef tank. I don't know what kind of coral I want yet, so what lights would be good for most corals in terms of attaching to the canopy. Links to examples would be great!! Thank you!!! |

Anyone with fixtures attached to the canopy that are happy with them?

Go to reefgeek.com (or your favorite reefing supply site, but I recommend reefgeek for lights) and look for "retrofit kits". Retrofit kits are lights that don't come in their own fixture, and are meant to be installed inside a canopy. This is the kind of setup I have, and I have done both T5 fluorescents as well as metal halides.
If you're asking for lighting for the 75g in your sig, you can start with a 4x54w T5 retrofit kit, or even overdrive the bulbs with an Icecap ballast. If you want to go with metal halides, you could start with 2x150w metal halides. With retrofit kits, you can pretty much do whatever you want. |
