Ideas for disinfecting tank?
First time posting, but I have been reading for a month. Well I started a 100gal FOWLR two 1/2 months ago. I currently have 90lbs live rock, inch & half of live sand (aragonite), Sump with macro algae, my livestock includes, 1 Green Chromis, 1 aqua cultured maroon clown, 1 yellow tang, 1 Royal Gramma. 3 peppermint shrimp, 2 hermit crabs and 15-20 various snails. After reading several threads about QT tanks I now think I should have started one with my tank, but I didn't and have added the fish directly to the DT. The last addition was my Royal Gramma and after two days it showed signs of ich. It has been eating fine and is adjusted to life with its fellow tank mates. All of the other fish are doing well, but I know the tank is now infected. My question now is what is the least painful way of handling this situation. I do not want to use Copper treatment, so it sounds like the Hypo treatment is my only other option? Can I do hypo on the DT or will that kill all my LR & LS along with my inverts? Thanks for the help.

I think the answer is to rid the tank of hosts, ie. fish, for whatever the life cycle of the organism is. I've read it here somewhere... something like 4 weeks maybe?

Thanks for your response
I have read that it could take as long as 11 weeks for the ich parasite to die off. I just don't know if all my fish would do well in a small QT for that long?
