Is there any salt water variation of minnows?
Just something for larger fish to eat/swallow?
Large mouth bass loves to eat minnows so I think there should be an equivalent in the ocean as well. |

well, there are not really any salt water minow, but from my experience of fishing i can tell you the big fish like sardined, but they overall get bigger than full grown minows. i have no idea how they would be in tank.

You can acclimate freshwater mollies to saltwater and they will breed rapidly providing a food source for your fish ,the added benifit is they eat algae also

I grew up mainly fishing with minnows and turtle guts. Age 9-14 my grandfather ordered me to kill all the turtles I catch as they were eating all the fish in the pond/lake. In a few weeks I will be teaching myself flyrod fishing. |

I don't know about in the ocean but the LFS in Grand Forks used to just toss in a few feeder goldfish. The grouper and lion would eat them right up... They didn't survive long enough to die due to saltwater...

Goldfish are horrible as a feeder for marine fish. No nutrition, lots of fat.
Silversides are essentially a variety of marine minnow. Never have seen them live, just frozen to be used as food.

Goldfish Feeders will lead to liver disease when fed to Lions....
guppies are better but silversides are best. |

Spearing.
You can catch by the boatload at low tide with a drag net. http://www.scottsbt.com/fishing/bait/spearing.htm |

Killies are also excellent bait/feeder fish. These can be caught in creeks that run into the sea at high tide with a killie net.
