Reccomend Skimmer?
I am setting up a 135 gal SPS reef. Could you reccomend a skimmer that could handle the 135 gal tank + 38 gal sump? It has to be external, with these being the max dimensions: 12" x 16" x 28" H (must include cup removal). It would be nice if it was under $600, though $999 is the max. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I was looking at the Octopus Premium External protein skimmer (EXT-PS-150), do you think it is powerful enough? Heres a description http://www.reefspecialty.com/octopus...mer-p-191.html

Octo are good maybe a little bigger one since you will be doing SPS's what's wrong with the BK does it have to be external? BK have a small footprint

I haven't updated my tank description in a while. I thought I could get a BK, although never got around to ordering it.
Right now where I was planning on putting the skimmer is where the fuge is. I was going to rip it out although now I'm having second thoughts. Can you have a successful SPS tank with out a fuge? It will be BB, & minimal LR. If so, then I will rip out the fuge and finally get the BK, if not, then I'll need an external skimmer (as my sump is filled up by the fuge). |

I would go with a C&C skimmer. I would look at the 125S or the 250S, which pull 800lph and 950lph respectively.
check out: shopreef filtration .com (can't get the link to work) |

I could not find a C&C skimmer (or the website). Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend one of the bubble magus models. I just got one of their in sump skimmers and was really impressed.

I would look at the DAS EX-2, I run my EX-1 external and it has been nothing but good. Same design and pump as the Deltecs.

+1 on the DAS. I have an EX-1 on my 90 and couldn't be happier. I've never seen my tank with such clear water before and my nitrates have dropped to less than 1. It's pretty much just a plug and play unit. No mods necesary. All I had to do is adjust the water level in the skimmer to determine what type of skimmate you'd like. Good luck
