QT advice.

I'd like to know if i should add my fishes that have been in QT to my main aquarium.

The main aquarium is a 150 gallon fowlr, already with a few fish, the only possible aggressive fish is a small damsel and a 4" asfur angel.

In my QT, i have 3 butterflies and a foxface (ranging from 2.5 " to 3").
The QT is very small (10 gallons), but my foxface, auriga butterfly, and saddle back butterflyfish are eating well and showing no signs of parasite.

I have also a punctato (dot-dash) butterflyfish, that pretty much hasn't eaten in 2 weeks. Now i've done a full cupramine and 2 seperate prazi-pro treatments (prazi, then cupramine, then prazi again when i thought i saw flukes) --- >
I think it's doable to add the 3 fish that are eating well, but should i leave the punctato in the QT, or perhaps he'll liven up in the DT ? The problem is he lets food float past him in the QT, but i know he's not blind because sometimes he'll hide when i come to feed the QT.

The fish was eating when i purchased him, eating through the first prazi pro, and kinda stopped in the middle of my cupramine treatment.

Well my thoughts are from someone that will never QT again. However because you are going thru the pain staking task of doing it I would suggest you leave all the fish in the QT till they are all eating and you have no doubt to the quality of their health.

I have no experience with butterflys but some experience with QT. My thought is that is a very small tank for 4 of those fish. How is the water quality in the QT? Are you checking for ammonia on a daily basis and doing a lot of water changes? Perhaps the one fish that is not eating is reacting to water quality...

well he's gone today. The water parameters are fine (nitrates higher than normal) but then again i make the fatal assumption that since the other fish were fine ...

Well ironically (or sadly) he died today ..but he pretty much was swimming dead... since he didnt' eat for so long.

Sorry to hear you lost the one fish. I would leave the others in the QT until you know they are 100%. Better to stick to the QT plan then end up with something in your display.

I feel for your loss and hope in the future you post sooner when a fish doesn't eat---there are lots of guys on here that "might" have bbeen able to save your fish had they been informed sooner
