is this normal for chromis? i thought that only cleaner wrasse and such do this?

I doubt they're picking off the parasites. I'd say it's bad news for the blue tang, to be honest. How long have you had it?

Are you treating the Ich? Do a search for many ideas for treatment. Unfortunately, once the fish is rolling over, it's pretty sick and may not recover.

no i am not treating.
she is not rolling over like she is weak or dieing
she is very active and eatting heaps. she swims up to the chromis and extends her dorsal fins and and just sort of swims on her side and the chromis seems to know that she wants them to pick at her. if they just swim away from her she just keeps following them and doing the same thing until the pick at her. after they pick for about 15 sec, she swims away and just goes about her usual grazing.

She is asking to be cleaned. I haven't heard of chromis cleaning other fish but stranger things happen every day. Get her a couple of neon gobies.
