Ranco Dual Stage Controller Problem

I bought a used Ranco Dual Stage Controller on RC. When I received it, I thought the seller must have a wide spread in temperature, as the number of degrees of difference was set at 17.

I reset it to 1 degree and it works turning my chiller and heater off within 1 degree of their settings.

The problem is that during the last two power outages, the controller reset itself to the 17 degree difference. Of course, my tank started heating up because the chiller didn't come on! If I have the Ranco chiller temp set to 78, when I use 1 degree, the chiller comes on at 79. With 17 degrees of difference, the chiller wouldn't come on until 95.

The heater and chiller temps I set stay in the memory. Is there some type of button or master setting I need to change? Or is it broken?

Thanks!
Joyce

Hmmmm...that is a weird problem. What I would do is open it up and see if there is a battery that is holding the memory that needs to be replaced. If that doesnt work then I would say it is broken.

Good idea on the battery. I'll check that tomorrow before I call Ranco.
