calcium at 540ppm . . .

So is this high calcium level dangerous for my inhabitants? I wanted to use the rest of my current salt before I changed the type that I use (I like a dummy bought reef crystals for my mostly FOWLR tank thinking that it was gonna be better). But if it is dangerous or harmful to the tank, I will go out and buy some new stuff. What do you think?

No - your fine since high calcium isn't going to harm your fishes. If you not adding any calcium supplements or Kalkwasser chances are your test readings a bit high .. regardless - its not a problem. No big deal.

Well calcium that high will eventually affect pumps. Best to keep it around 420

No it won't necessarily. That would only be true if you had high ph and alkalinity to go with it. i run mine at 550ppm with 11dk and 8.35 ph at 1.026 sg without abiotic precipitation to speak of.

What is your specific gravity? Reef crystals should measure 420 in calcium at 1.026. 540 for reef crystals seems kind of high for RC if you are not adding anything else other than the salt.

agreed, seems that you have something else going on, either a bad test kit or another source of calcium. I've never tested a RC bucket higher than about 425ppm, and I've been using it for over 2 years exclusively.
