noisy sump

I wanted to know if there is a way to quiet down my sump. It is a RR set up with dual overflows, it runs quiet for a few seconds, then a lage amount of air comes out of the pipies that go into the sump. The hose fromthe overflows connect to pispes that run down to the bottom of the sump itself and ther are standpipes in both overflows.

Check this out: http://www.dursostandpipes.com/?page_id=58
This will usually work for most.

The noise is not coming from the overflows, it is coming from the sump itself, I do have standpipes already. It is coming when thereis a lot of air released into the sump from the pipes feeding the sump.

Are there any spots on the drain line where water could backup? If water can backup anywhere, it will all surge out, and then build up again.

maybe your pump is pumping too much water, you should install a ball valve anyways and then you can play with the flow. you want ball valves at places where you can turn the valve off and clean/replace a pump without it being a pain in the **s. good luck

I had a similar issue & found that placing the drains below the surface a couple of inches & using a 45 degree elbow underwater made the difference for me. The 45 seems to release the air much smoother into the water.
