Bubbles on Coral Frags

I have some coral frags set up in my sump and they are constanly getting covered with air bubbles. The only thing I can think of that may be causing this is the water from my top off splashing a bit. But when I see how it tops off the bubbles only rise to the surface and don't come near the corals.

Could anything else be causing this? I've since shut off my top off and will observe the results.

Yes cyano was on the frags and there is cyano on the sides of the sump. I recently added an MJ1200, changed the MH bulb and added brand new high capacity GFO to a reactor. That should hopefully put an end to the cyano.

I didn't know cyano made bubbles. I've never seen bubbles anywhere else where I've had cyano.

+1 on cyano, happens to some frags of mine sometimes.. turkey baster will help if you blow off the cyano and bubbles whenever you see them form and work on the flow.

Korrine,

That isthe worst place for bubble algae to be. Since snails are costantly moving there is a greater chance for them to scrape on a rock and pop releasing spores into the water column. take the snail out of the tank, scrape them off with a razor blade, rinse them off with tank water and then place them back into the tank.

Joe Mamma,

If you are having a cyanobacteria problem, it is most likely from excess nutrients and low flow. have you tested your water?
