Question Reef Additives & Supplements? Kent Marine & Seachem products

I was wanting to know if adding supplements like Seachem's Plus and Kent Marine's Coral-Vite are good, bad, neccesary, snake oil, etc? I don't have any corals YET, but these seem to be touted as beneficial for saltwater tanks in general for vitamins & etc for micro algae, inverts, live rock, etc. I purchased both and compared their ingredients and % break down and they seem to have very little overlap as far as vitamins and trace elements. THANKS AGAIN!!
