Purple Rock Turning White

Hi,

Our DT has been running for 4 months. I am just about to move a pair of TR clowns from the QT to the DT. ( 2 weeks in QT from LFS )

The once vibrant Purple Rock is now slowly turning white.

? Is this normal for a relatively new system?

Thanks,

Mario

Mine started doing the same thing. Just keep up with your calc, alk, and mag. and it will start coming back. Patience is the key.

just like hula said, but you might want to check all your parameters just in case.

Normal part of a tank maturing.

Purple coraline...cool.
Oh no, my coraline is turning white...will it come back.
Coraline returns...man, this coraline is a PITA!

Same thing here too. Agreed with phenom5 - it's all tank maturity. I considered it more room for coralline algae to grow!

You can try using Purple Up, its a solution to increase corraline algae on your rocks and in your tank. Even using that will only boost current corraline, so you must have corraline in your tank first before you use that.

i've read that purple can cause cyano in your tank because it increases phosphates..

i think coraline looks great on the rocks, but i wish there was an easy way to keep it off the glass!
