Need a stubby skimmer to handle 500 gallons

Setting up a new tank and skimmer for this one will have to go under the tank. I only have 24-25" to work with so looking at my options for this setup. I was looking at MRC or a Reef Octopus. Not been shopping around a whole lot for skimmers lately so I'm not sure what is out there that is good. Total volume will be ~500 gallons.

I run a Tunze Master Doc 9440 on my 220 gallon reef and love it. I used a few other skimmers in the past but have the same problem as you and found it to be the best out there.

I also have the Tunze 9440 but measure carefully as it requires an additional couple of inches to remove the cup....

Go with a Super Reef Octopus 5000 or the 5000sss model. I have the same situation and have plenty of room with my 5000 internal. Call Reef Specialty and talk to Mike he'll steer you in the right direction.
