controllability without causing damage on koralia powerheads
hey guys, i just added 2 more k3's to my 55 this past weekend and I'm getting ready to set up an apex controller in the next 2 weeks. here's my question. how frequently can i turn on and off a non-controllable k3 powerhead without severely reducing its life, or causing damage?
in my 55 i have all the PH's at the top of the tank. one is front left, one back left, one front right, one back right. i want to alternate the flow of these to move front and back every few minutes but i don't want to break the PH's too fast. if i set them to alternate every 5 minutes in pairs, would that be ok? I'd really like to set them up to randomly change flow, but only in like a 5 or 10 minutes increment. we'll see if thats possible when i can finally play around with the apex... thanks!

They say that frequent power cycles could damage the components, but beyond that the extra noise would drive me nuts. When they cycle on they typically chatter for several seconds.
