Protein Skimmer not producing foam

I have been using a Seaclone 100 Protein Skimmer on my tank now for about 2.5 months and have yet to see any foam produced. The life in the tank is doing very well, PH stays at 8.3-8.4, and I am using a 40gal pump for the skimmer. There is no adjustment valve on the skimmer either since I have read that many skimmers do have this valve. I do get the cyclone affect in the skimmer, but I think it should be working by now so Im running out of things to try. Any advice of something to try would be appreciated.

Sorry to tell you, but this skimmer is a POS. You may as well just run an air stone for all the good it will do your tank. Friends don't let friends run Seaclone skimmers... For verification, do an online search for the skimmer by name followed by the word reviews.

Tell us more about your tank and system and someone can probably recommend a reasonably priced skimmer that actually works...

when I first started saltwater I didn't do much research and bought a seaclone all I can say is don't expect much from it. There are some mods for it that do work but even with the mods still not very effective.

Ah well, thats too bad. Thankfully, nothing in the tank seems to be affected so far. I have a 72gal bowfront tank, currently running only 4 10K Daytime lights until I can replace a clown ballast for the blue actinic's, and using a wet/dry trickle filtration system. The tank has been up and running for about 3 1/2 to 4 months now; I have a Clarkii and a Maroon Clown fish, plus two Condy anemones. Both anemones and fish look to be healthy and happy. Thanks for the information. I will have to look at some other types or see what I can do with this one possibly.

Don't feel to down and out

There is a reason seaclones are so popular....everyone at some point (just about everyone) has bought or used one! They are everyones first mistake in a long list of mistakes lol....

If you have a sump, look into the bubble magnus skimmers (best bang/buck ratio out there) if you don't have a sump look into the Eshopps hang on 100. I will back that skimmer, as i have used and still use it my self.

Also dont forget that skimmer-less tanks can be very successful. You should take some time and look into other forms of filtration that could replace a skimmer.

+1 I learned the hard way that not all skimmers are the same. Although I wouldn’t recommend going without one. (just my opinion) their benefit outweigh not using one. Especially if you’re new to the hobby, you're going to need all the help you can get from a skimmer.

Skimmer is probably the single most important piece of equipment you can buy. Its like insurance. Some people can go without it but almost all are a lot better off with it. Invest in the best you can afford.
