Question ammonia?

I am presently cycling my tank.I know that the nitrites, nitrates, and ammonia will go up,and then they will all go down to zero.As my tank has been cycling i've been noticing alot of new life. Will the build up of ammonia kill all these living things and then the tank starts over.Or are the high ammonia levels only bad for fish.

It depends on how much life was left in the live rock and how much of cycle you actually have. Have you been testing your water? If so what are the levels.

My situation is a little different.I ordered live rock online and waited a month before I finally got my money back.I ordered from another co. and they kept giving me the runaround. The guy at my LFS told me to buy a couple Lbs.of LR while I was waiting for my main shipment.I did that and that sat in my tank for a month until I finally got my shipment in the mail.During that month I took no water readings.I put my LR/BR in the tank 1/29/10 with a raw shrimp. On that day it was nitrate=0,nitrite=0,PH=8,ammonia=.5 ppm.Today it is PH=8,nitrate=15,nitrite=1 ppm,ammonia=1 ppm.,but i've seen a crab, worms(at least two different types)and algaes of all different types.Do you think all this will die as the ammonia rises? Thanks for the advice.

lol, I remember you, JustLiveRock.com's customer of the month

Some of the life on your rock may die, but some may also survive.
