Question about fuzz

Here are a couple pics of my tank, 55 gal, running about three weeks now with ~60 lbs of LR. 20 lbs of live sand with about 60 lbs of argonite. Please ignore all the stuff in the background of the tank, it will be moving to the sump soon.

Ammonia is 0 never had a spike that I know of, nitrite is 0, and nitrate is about 20 ppm. Hard to see in the pics, but there are tons of tiny little fuzzy hairs all over my LR. Is this normal?

We have a 75 gallon tank that has been running since 3-13-10. We have been checking the water every two days and have never yet had a change in water quality. We also have a real fine green hair algea that is starting to consume the whole tank. We have 80 lbs of sand and about 70 lbs of live rock. We are running two aquaclear 500 powerfilters. I'm not sure If the filters are keeping the water in check or we just havnt had any water qlty problems yet.

I wonder if since there was cured LR used in my tank that that helped me out. The nitrate has dropped in the last week on mine. Hopefully someone will ring in here and help us out.

Is there any fish or invertebrates in there? If not are you running lights?

Just water now. I turned the lights on lately but they had been off when it started to appear.

has it changed since the lights have come on.

My first guess would be some type of algae. 2nd Guess, some kind of sponge, like pineapple sponge. 3rd guess, some kind of hydroid. Without a more clarified picture, these are ENTIRELY guesses, but are common newly set-up tanks.

+1! Give us something to work with here! I would guess
1. Sponge
2. Algae
3. Hydroid

Sorry, I'll try and get a better picture. It seems to have grown more today. If you look at the second pic, notice the big brownish rock. On the right half you can see a spidery fuzz type substance taking over. I'm guessing it is some type of algae, that hopefully cleaner shrimp or snails will take care of.
