red bug removal

I have had red bugs for a little while now and I have done some research online before and everyone says use interceptor to rid these pests from your system. Well getting interceptor is a problem for me, so is there anyone else out there that has had luck in another method of getting rid of these pests?? I read an article somewhere where someone used betadyne (sp?), anyone tried that with success, what about lugols or revive coral dip? I have a couple of frags that haven't shown any polyp extension here lately due to these pests and I want them gone asap.

I just caled my local vet and explained the situation. It took them about 24hrs. to do some research and get back to me. She was happy with the information she found and rightfully so, I've been red bug free ever since.

I had them and the only thing that worked was interceptor!

It works very fast too. But I left it in for 12 hours each time to make sure.

Not ill effects but I lost 1 cleaner shrimp and all my crabs. Snails were fine.

Unfortunately, Betadyne (Iodine) won't work. Interceptor is about the only thing found to work, for Red Bugs. It will take some work, on your part, but you should be able to find a Vet. that will prescribe it for you. You will need to do the research for them though, to show what Red Bugs are, and the use of Interceptor, in controlling them.

I had to go through about 6 Vets., before I was able to find one that was willing to listen. Worked out great, as that Vet. is about 6 blocks from my house. I do have to pay an "exam" fee, once per year, but then have an ongoing prescription available.
