Best skimmer for $400 for a 200 gallon tank

I am running a sps dominated 180 using a Euroreef 8-3 and want to upgrade skimmers as I want to add more fish and feed heavier. I am wanting to spend around $400. I have a local reefer selling a four year old bubble master 250 for $400. I have heard that is a pretty good skimmer but am hoping to tap the opinions of those here who know a lot more about skimmers to determine if the BM would be the way to go or look for new. Thanks.

look at the MRC skimmers... by far the best deal on a new skimmer (in many cases they out perform skimmers that cost twice as much)

I checked out the MRC skimmers but only saw external models. I am wanting to run a in-sump skimmer and keep the wattage down if possible. Any other suggestions.

Thanks for the recommendation, the SRO 3000 looks like it might be the ticket.

their "external" models will work in a sump also..

if you're looking for an internal pump design, check out the ocean force line..

they run on as little as 18watts... !!!

in that price I would agree. the sro 3000 is about the only one under $400 that will get the job done and then some.

SGWill122.....

do your self a favor...

purchase the right skimmer FIRST.

if you have any doubts.. call Raj @ MRC (M-F 8-5) and talk to him about it. Their customer service is second to none and Raj is VERY knowledgeable, he's used or replaced most of the other brands out there for his current clients, I feel pretty certain that he'll recommend the best skimmer for you even if it isn't one of his..
