Looking for a GOOD venture needle wheel skimmer pump.
I need to replace the pump on my skimmer. It currently uses a Rio 800. I would like to replace this with a better needle wheel pump, it has to have a 1/2" outlet to work with my skimmer. What would work?

A couple well known needle wheel pumps would be Sedra, Gen-x, and You can also use an Ehiem pump if you buy a custom needle wheel impeller.

Thanks Andrew! Can you give tell me which pump and model is equivalent to a Rio 800 in physical size and output? Which of these do you like? I would like a little more output but don't have a lot of room in my hob sump where my skimmer is located.

Since the pump is only around 200gph, the Gen-x 1000 would work.

Mark, I was searching and came up with this thread. Did you find a good needle wheel pump that's about 200gph? I'm currently looking for one.
thanks! |
