Using aquarium ground probe
So I have a Rid-volt titanium ground probe that I am about to install.
I have read a few horror stories about them, not understanding what happened, but what are things that I need to worry about when having one? if any? Thanks, Ser

I use GFCI devices for safety purpose, but no grounding probe. If your system ends up with a faulty electrical component, such as a heater or powerhead, shunting the resulting voltage to ground may not be the best thing. I try to keep the number of items with electrical cords directly in the water to a minimum for my own safety. Even so, fluorescent lighting can induce voltage into the water and as mentioned, by adding a ground probe you are creating a path for electrical current to flow, whereas without the probe, it would remain a static voltage potential, unlikely to harm anything.
Here are two links regarding grounding probes and GFCIs. A bit of reading but I believe it to be a valid source. Should give you a better idea of whether a probe is a good choice for your system. http://angel-strike.com/aquarium/GroundingProbes.html http://angel-strike.com/aquarium/GFI...alDetails.html
