Question on Tank stand placement
The new 125g I'm getting has an all steel stand and Oak shell that covers the steel. The room I'm putting it in has new carpeting. I would like to preserve the carpet as much as possible. It's not a plusho r shag carpet, so, I think it'll be o.k. If not a treadmill mat, I was thinking just a cheap rug runner of some type that would go with the room.
I was thinking of putting down a treadmill matt under the tank to protect the carpet. Possibly even some thick plastic in between the mat and carpet as a moisture barrier. Will this cause any issues with tank stability and/or leaks? Mold / mildew buildup? anything like that. Once it's placed the rug / mat will not be able to go anywhere. So, I want to make sure it's o.k. to do? thanks in advance for any info. |

A small rug will be enough to protect the carpet. you wont have any mold issues unless you are overflowing the tank alot.

I would be more inclined to do something waterproof, but most any barrier between the tank and carpet should be fine. As long as it's not terribly thick, you're unlikely to encounter any stability issues.

That's the answers I was hoping for. Just something for accidental spills and/or salt runs to not damage the carpet directly is all. Perfect! Now to find something that is slightly larger than the tank dimensions but not so larger it takes up too much room.
