Sewage dump into my tank. 911

I just had about 20oz of thick dark green skimmate dump from skimmer into sump water. It's a 120g mixed reef with 40g sump. Is this a problem? What should I do?

a water change of significant size say 25%

Also run GAC and GPO. Definitely can't hurt. If you are already running both when was the last time they were changed? If not recently, then change them both.

Skim heavy, take it back out, should not cause major problems.

In case it happens again. Just shut down your return pump, raise your skimmer or adjust it, and skim it out. Your skimmer will go nuts.

For now I would just skim it out. Your skimmer will pull it back out.

It has happened to me a couple of times. Nothing bad came of it.

SPS will not appreciate it at all: keep skimmer tuned and keep dumping. LPS and softies, however, will be thrilled, within limits. Still---clean it up.

honestly, in 160g of water, 20 oz is 0.11160714285714285% of the total volume. Its not a huge deal but it won't hurt to do a change and keep an eye on it.

Ok. I decided to do nothing and the skimmer went crazy and pulled it all back out with 2 hours. No noticeable I'll effects for any inhabitants. I don't have any Sps yet do maybe that saved me a bit and luckily I have a great skimmer

I've never had any problems with it either, had a problem skimmer that did it a few times. Tons of SPS/LPS/etc... All I did was cleaned the skimmer up and got it back online.

The drain tube on the collection cup came loose and the skimmers dripped for who knows how many days. Did not see any effects on my tank. I just reinserted the tube back in and continued skimming. Sometimes the clay-like junk on the inner skimmer drop back in the water. Nothing happens.

Not a big deal...it was in the tank to start with, it shouldn't cause any harm. Just skim it back out.

Did you accidentally dump the collection cup in the sump or did the cup overflow? I've had my skimmer go nuts a few times and overflow the collection cup. I simply dump whatever is in the collection cup and let the skimmer pull it out again. It helps to have a large volume of water to dilute the waste but even in a smaller tank it shouldn't cause any real problems.
