Fianlly got it!!!!

I just got my used Oceanic tech tank 120. It is very good shape. Has all the plumbing ready to go. A nice acrylic sump. Swirls. Pumps. Heater. Hell even gave me an old metal halid light fixture that I should be able to do a refit job on to make it led. I think I have a sump lined up also. I am getting there!! Now just need to clean it some (to be honest it is fairly clean), replumb it, etc. But better paint the room first or the wife may get upset.

I am all new to salt, so I hope this goes well.

Just take your time.Make sure to keep things clear of your feet when working around the tank.......especially paint and light fixtures.

Plan on taking my time. Need to construct the led lighting, get the skimmer, do a nice job aquascaping, etc. I am already prepared for it to be 2 or 3 months till a get some fish in the tank.

Coming along well. Room is painted, fully plumbed, skimmer in place (but one pump sounds off

), have my ro/di and tank now has about 80g in it. My dry rock should be in the end of this week.

How much did you buy for that tank? Sounds awesome that all plumbing and sumps are prepared.

$850 for stand, tank, custom acrylic sump, Mag 9.5, Rio 1400, a 48" light fixture (no lighting in it), all the pluming, two 3/4 inch swirls, refractometer, various associated supplies like nets, siphon, etc. Guess some pictures would be in order soon.

Played with the skimmer and is working well now, but gonna switch to the red demon pinwheels over the mesh wheels.

Enjoy the beer, I warned people I was taking it slow.

Filled up the overflow today to see if my bulkheads leaked. No obvious leaking after 15 minutes. See what it looks like when I get home tonight. Have about 100g in the system now. Roughly 30g more to go.

I ran the skimmer today for the first time and the pumps move alot of water. I was not sure how much foam I would get just testing it out with ro/di fresh water at this point? Is it normal to get only a small amount of foam with no crud, and no nsalt? The skimmer is a used ATI bubblemaster 250. It still does have the mesh wheels for and the pumps do stick a little on startup. Once they get going they seem do move water just fine, they easily fill the entire skimmer with water if I close down the gatevalve. I am going to swap out the impellers for the Red Demon style. I have heard that get rid of the startup issues, and make better foam.

Ok, now with pics!!!

I am running at as a Herbie right now, which was VERY easy with a tech tank. The Sicce pumps on the skimmer are a little noisy, and I am going to put pinwheele impellers and well as the carbon fiber rod modicifaction to see if it helps.
