ETSS 600 question

my friend just got one of these skimmers. he has a danner 2100gph pump laying around, can we use this or is it too powerful?
also would it be better to use a skimmer pump that has a nice air intake?
lastly, it is mounted in sump and i would have to measure but i think its more than the recommended 6" below the water line, is this really bad?

you need a pressure rated pump for these skimmers to work properly, even over time that pump will fail to work right, the outlet needs to be above the water line in the sump as well
