added npx bio plastic

I just added some new media to the tank last nite and this whole day the corals have been closed up. The olny changes i have made since last night where the media and some alkand it went from 8 to 9 which i think is safe.

ph 8.2
nitrate 0
phosphate. 0 or really low
alk 9
cal 440
mag 1500

anyone have a clue on what i did?

Adding to much of the new solid carbon medias on the market can cause issue from everything I have heard. This is why I have stayed away. Bio pellets/media and higher alk can cause issues as well. Add media to reactor in small amounts over time. But if you have 0 no3 and 0 po4 then why are you adding a carbon source?

I would take out like 90% of it and start slowly with it. GFO can be harmful as well if use incorrectly/add to much at once.

bioi pellets

I would add this,
I was dosing vodka for about a year and had often Cyno out breaks but the benefts to my corals were great so i just lived with it.
I have switched to bio plastics and wheened my tank from vodka with no ill effects and as of now no cyno .The corals all look amazing
