need reviews for Resun PG18000

JUst want to ask reviews on Resun PG-18000(sealion) with 4750gph. I am thinking of getting this pump for my return.

My DT is about 180gals. What would be an optimum return flow for this size of tank or suggested turnover rate?

It's a Resun.... typically horrible quality.

I will never use a Resun pump. The GPH is insanely high for a return for that size tank anyway. 3 - 5x display size after headloss is more what you should be running.

roger. thanks for the suggestion. i'd stay away from resun pumps. will rio HP32 with 1920gph or reefflo snapper do? or still too much?

For that tank size keep your return at about 1200-1500 gph. This is more than enough water going to the sump for skimming and keeping the water clean. Then for water movement, consider a wavebox and other devices inside the tank...such as Tunze, Korallia ect. You can get as much water movement in the tank as you need, with out a mountainous, thundering waterfall going down your overflow and into your sump. Which is what would happen with the resun pump you are looking into. It would create a fairly chaotic sump. Also 1 1/2" overflow piping maxes out at around 1500ish Gph. If you are going to have 4000+ gph make sure you pipe accordingly, and have the right sized overflow holes drilled.

Recomend the Askoll/Laguna 1500 pump. Extremly quiet, powerful and efficient. Works on very low wattage. Lots of 180-225 tanks are using them, and consider the water flow perfect for those size tanks. Hard to beat this pump.

for your size you should be looking at around 1500... not 4750!

I have a resun... it does it's job no problem BUT - i will be buying another pump because this one is WAAAYYYY TOOOOO LOUUUDD, its the loudest thing in my aquarium... I tried a marineland pump... didnt even know it was pumping water.. may look into that
