Aquaripure Nitrate Filter
Hi
I wondered if anyone knows what filter media is used in the Aquaripure Nitrate Filter? I have read they get blocked.. I was looking at using siporax. Martyn |

I was under the impression that carbon dosing vis-a-vis pellets was THE way to go nowadays. I've used a bunchof brands, and they have certainly made my tanks NO3 free with no hassel or maitenance, they just take some patience to get going. I've also heard first hand horror stories, but like anything if you go slowly I think they are incredibly beneficial.
While I'm at it, I would like to give a shout out to the inventors of pellet dosing, you have saved me lots of water changes and certainly made brighter colored sps, thank you. |

I've used this filter for a year now with mixed feelings. My nitrates are at less than 2 ppm(heavily fed overstocked 250g mixed reef) so I would have to say the filter does work although I have never achieved 0 nitrates. The maintience on this thing is a total pita to obtain optimal performance! As far changing the media I don't think it's an option and I know the manufacturer doesn't want you to open the unit. I emailed him several times concerning problems with the start up cycle and he basically told me to pull all my other equipment off to aid the filter...protein skimmer, UV, phosban reactor, carbon reactor(no thanks). This unit is also quite bulky.
Save your time and money and go with bio pellets! |

Or go with a sulphur based nitrate reactor

So the maker makes them sealed..?
I was looking at at making one of my own as I doubt the the media is nothing special. I have used coil nitrate filters in the past but I'm thinking this time to use two 5 gallon pressure containers with k1 And twin 100ml min pumps supplying it. Martyn --- - Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
